The weekend of 27-29th September 2024 is the SECOND Shrewsbury Pride, and we’re proud to be supporting them with some fringe events here at Turned Wood Cafe, at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings.
What’s on
Friday 27th, 7pm-9pm, and 10am-4pm both Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th inside the cafe: Andy McKeown Installation - a Pride themed installation inside the cafe from the light and sound artist.
During the weekend you can also view Andy McKeown latest installation, Flaxmill Voices, across the wider Shrewsbury Flaxmill Voices site.
Sunday 11am - Theo Dussek, Pirate Toubador inside the cafe - singalong folk songs with modern indie-folk, to accompany your Sunday Brunch
About Theo Dussek:
“Theo’s music blends ancient rural folklore, nautical romanticisms and the lonesome, dusty roads of Americana with acoustic guitar plucked in uplifting rhythms and melodic vocals driving the stories of his songs. Theo Dussek is a wandering minstrel who has come to sing his songs in the 21st century; your heart is safe and soothed in the hands of this pirate troubadour.”
2pm - 3pm - The Rock Choir with feel good hits, on the terrace outside the cafe WEATHER DEPENDENT
The local group of the national Rock Choir family of contemporary choirs sing and perform a variety of feel-good hit songs.
3pm - LoveSing Choir - a high energy contemporary choir, on the terrace outside the cafe WEATHER DEPENDENT
A high-energy, uplifting adult contemporary choir who just love to perform! We pride ourselves on singing songs that make people smile and want to sing and dance along.
Singing a range of songs from artists such as Mcfly, Queen, A-Ha and Tina Turner they look to create a fun, party atmosphere.
